The Ocean Decade: Turning Science into Action for the Future of Our Planet

The ocean is the blue heart of our planet. It regulates climate systems, sustains biodiversity and supports the livelihoods of billions of people worldwide. Recognizing its central role, the United Nations launched the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030)—a global framework designed to connect scientific knowledge with public policy, investment decisions and concrete action.
The Ocean Decade represents a unique opportunity to transform marine science into practical solutions that strengthen climate resilience, protect marine ecosystems and promote the sustainable use of ocean resources.
At InfinityGaia, we believe that local innovation can contribute to global transformation. As part of this vision, we have submitted our Circular Waste Management initiative in San Cristóbal – Galápagos to the Ocean Decade framework, aligning our work with international efforts to protect and regenerate ocean systems.
The video below captures the spirit of the initiative: “The science we need for the ocean we want.” It reminds us that the future of the ocean depends on our ability to translate knowledge into action, collaboration and long-term responsibility.
Watch the video and explore how science, governance and innovation can shape a healthier and more resilient ocean for generations to come.
